I'm currently working away on making bunting for my room, and it's going really well. For someone who has never really used a sewing machine much in her life, I'm pretty pleased with myself! I've been working on it before and after work this week, and I should think it will be finished by the weekend.
Anyway, as I was sitting at my desk, cutting fabric and sewing it, I thought to myself how lucky I am to have this space. A whole room full of tools and machines and supplies to enable me to do exactly whatever takes my fancy - take photographs, print them, make scrapbooks, make anything out of paper or card that I want to, sew, knit, crochet, type, draw, paint, go on the world wide web and get free instructions or ideas or inspiration or ANYTHING...
And not just a room, but a beautiful room that I painted, chose the colour for, chose the furniture for, the big huge desk, the big comfy chair, the shelving, and filled with all the bits I love, the things I make, photographs I love. Fresh flowers on the windowsill, and plants on the shelf.
AND as if all that wasn't enough, but also I have the most amazing boyfriend who "gets" why I want to do all this, who realises how happy it makes me, who never complains about the money it costs, never complains about how much I have and spend on this, and who is just truly lovely and supportive and admiring of all I do.
I came to the conclusion that lucky is not the word. Fortunate? Still not strong enough! Extremely fortunate and blessed - may be. I love my room and my little world of creating.
PS. Not to mention the housemate who has to put up with me rattling around in there most mornings before she's even out of bed, and never complains (at least not within ear-shot anyway, haha).
