Typewriter

Just one more amazing car boot purchase from last Sunday. I'd been fanciful about getting a typewriter, remembering the one my Dad bought me when I was a kid, and thinking it cool and retro-ish! Well, last Sunday we decided to go to a car boot, on a whim, and took my Momma along too. Arron spotted this beauty and pointed it out to me, and I bought it for 4 pounds, including an extra three boxes of still sealed ribbon! It works like a dream, and even still pings when it gets to the end of the row! I'm so in love with it, it weighs a ton, but sits neatly on top of my vertical Expedit. Perfect for scrapping and mini books and labels and letters to send to my nieces.
I googled the name - Imperial 66 - and these were produced in the 1950's! I wonder what stories it would tell if it could talk. Sigh. I'll never know - but I can imagine!

PS. Arron seriously regretted pointing it out to me - he totally did NOT want me to buy a typewriter, claiming it would be a waste of money, space and just more junk and clutter in the house! I said that for four pounds, I wasn't going to worry about the wasting money aspect, and I think he's come round now and doesn't mind too much - but on the day he was furious!

I was born in 1954 GASP I know - that makes me sorta old... but I had an even older typewriter when I started school - and eventhough I don't know your typewriter I can assure you these were well loved. I remember typing at a very early age and loving to hand in typed assignments at school. Good luck with your new friend. =0)
