Don't Put off your Happy Life

I saw this saying on a poster, on Tara Whitneys blog, and often when I'm feeling low, the words come to me and I wonder why I am doing just that.
I hate my job.
I spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year (minus 6 weeks holidays) in a job and an environment I loathe.
Why?
Oh it's not that bad really - we're not mistreated, or exploited, or terribly unhappy. The company gives good pay and good benefits.
But the office politics and the mundane-ness of it all, day in and day out, are not for me. I don't enjoy the work. I make mistakes.
I feel guilty, for all the people out there struggling to get a decent job - they'd jump onto mine! Pretty office, big company, reliable payroll. But it doesn't, it can't, change the way I feel.
Anyway, I've got to stop putting off my happy life. I think part of the hurdle here is knowing what your happy life is. What does your happy life look like? And once you know that, then you can take the steps to make it happen.
I know what my happy life looks like. And, miraculously, I think we have the things we need to make it happen. I'm trying to make the preparations now in order to get to our happy life. I estimate we'll be halfway there by the end of this year. I hope. So much could go wrong. So much could go right. It already has.
It's time for change.

BTW - photography by Arron! I just processed! He's learning good!

Even in the interim between now and your goal, you can, from the safety of a job, look for another? It would feel like you're really progressing to that goal. Great good luck, I remember a similar position.

I agree with Julia, look about while you have the safety of your job. I loved reading your post, so very true. I have an ideal happy life waiting to the wings and I know I have to dig deep to make them happen but keep putting things off. Why do we do these things to ourselves.
I have been looking at doing a commercial photography degree. However places are limited to 15. Ten of which have been taken, 3 have been kinda bench-marked so only 2 left. I am waiting for the tutor to ring back after the holidays for a interview. So I may have to wait until next year. It bugs me that there is nothing inbetween a basic camera course or a degree here. It is cool you have other options...lucky girl. Do they have night time options so you can work around work?
I almost brought the D40 myself when it first came out, but ended up with the D50 as it was cheaper. Steve is pretty good with me, he does not worry that I take it out. I wouldnt take it to the pub though....I like my drink too much so my coolpix comes with me.
When you looking at buying your new camera? I am hoping Summer for mine and maybe waiting a little the price has dropped and I can afford a 85mm lens too...wishful thinking!
Have a great weekend Sarah and make sure you get some pgotos to share, I love seeing what you have done.
